Transport yourself to the vibrant streets of Mexico City, and enjoy truly traditional and authentic cuisine at this local Taqueria. situated in a grocery store, this hole in the wall establishment serves up fresh tacos and huarcaches in the heart of Little Village. Be prepared to be patient for your food, however, it’s so worth the wait as the chef behind the counter, will meticulously cook your meat, and create your taco with so much love. As a Latino and someone who truly loves to cook I can be hard to please; you must take the trip over. Avoid the weekends as it will be packed and note that they are closed on Thursdays. Salud!!
The best el pastor tacos I've ever had

They came with diced up pineapple and it was amazing. The carne was cooked and marinated very well, not too salty or chewy at all. You would never think a grocery store has the best tacos in the city but don’t be fooled! Super small place but the food speaks for itself. Also loved the horchata! The best one I’ve had and I’ve tried quite a few. Limited seating so even getting these to go would still be good!

I was finally able to make it and luckily they allowed dine in. We were the only ones dining in at the time, so we got all the attention. Like the name states, it’s a small little grocery store. Something similar to the small grocery stores you will find in the rural parts of Mexico. But it’s their tacos that attract the people. It also doesn’t feel like a restaurant. They were very welcoming, just like you would be welcomed into a Mexican family’s home.
We ordered an horchata to drink. The large was about $3.25 and it was an actual large. The horchata was was very sweet and delicious. I ordered four tacos with four different meats. Lengua, Tripas, Asada, and Al pastor. All the tacos were delicious but my favorite were Asada and al pastor. The Tripas were good, but I prefer these a tad bit more crispy. The lengua was delicious as well. The lengua was very tender with lots of flavor. Skirt steak was used for the Asada. Usually carne Asada tacos are chopped up, here you get slice of skirt steak in your taco. The steak was so juicy and seasoned perfectly. The al pastor marinade was perfect. They even put pineapple in your tacos to add that extra flavor!
If you haven’t been to La Chaparrita you’re definitely missing out. These are DF style tacos and well worth checking out.

Walking around inside this small store, I think it’s closer to a taco shop than a grocery store. When you walk inside, you look around and can feel the cultural authenticity. I got Asada / Pastor / Campechano – combo Suadero (boneless chuck) and Longaniza (pork sausage) and Tepache – fermented pineapple water. The meat is all so flavorful and juicy. The Campechano – combo Suadero (boneless chuck) and Longaniza (pork sausage) was delightfully crispy. I was scared to try the tripe, a strong recommendation by the nice lady, but it was all so good that I want to return and try the tripe taco, maybe even the brain taco! I tried the fermented pineapple water which was new and interesting. Customer service was very good.

My only complaint was that some items were a bit overpriced. The tacos are small but tasty and the tacos de canasta are tiny and way overpriced. I still give this place 5 stars because the food and service was good.
The huaraches were the best thing we tried, we had two huaraches, one with calabaza and the other with asada. The salsas that were on it were perfect! We also had a agua de mango which was smooth and rich, tasted not too sweet and just right. It was more like a smoothie but so so good.
